Clinical Director
Eamon Smyth, BA BVMS MRCVS
Originally from Ireland, Eamon grew up around horses and graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2003. After working in general practice in Ireland, he moved to England in 2004 and worked at various practices in the South East, Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex. Eamon established Equivet in 2014 and is one of our Clinical Directors. He is experienced in equine reproduction including embryo transfer work and has completed the BEVA advanced equine dentistry courses, making him experienced in routine and advanced equine dental techniques. He is also an FEI permitted treating vet, and enjoys working closely with riders and equine professionals to improve performance.
Clinical Director
Jack Ashby , BVSc Cert AVP (Equine Lameness) MRCVS
After graduating from Liverpool in 2010, Jack worked in mixed practice in the Midlands and then at The Liphook Equine hospital. He joined us in 2015 and became a clinical director in 2021. He holds a Certificate of Advanced veterinary practice in equine lameness diagnostics and therapeutics and is very experienced in endoscopy and gastroscopy techniques. Jack also performs the practice's advanced dental work and is regularly involved in teaching equine dentistry to vets on CPD courses. In his own time, he enjoys cycling, wood work and spending time with his wife, daughter and dog, Bugsy.
Clinical Director
Rebecca Gengasamy, MVB Cert AVP (Equine Practice) MRCVS
Rebecca graduated from University College Dublin in 2013, after which she completed internships and externships at various equine hospitals. She has an Advanced Veterinary Practice certificate in Equine Practice and is working towards another in lameness diagnostics and therapeutics. She has completed the ABVA foundation course in veterinary acupuncture and the essential IAVC veterinary chiropractic course.
Rebecca joined Equivet as a clinical director in 2023, bringing her considerable performance horse experience to the team. Outside of work, she enjoys riding her horses with her husband and taking care of her dog, sheep and peafowl.
Veterinary Surgeon
Sophie Mosseri, DVM MRes Dip ECEIM MRCVS
Sophie is an RCVS-recognised specialist in equine internal medicine with a master’s degree from the Royal Veterinary College, and trained as a veterinary surgeon in Toulouse, France. She later completed an equine clinical science internship in Montreal and worked at an equine referral hospital in Versailles, where she helped develop the first standing CT scanner. She moved to the Cotswolds in 2011, and after completing specialist training at the University of Liverpool, she was awarded a diploma in equine internal medicine. She joined us in 2023, and loves exploring the countryside with her little boy and taking him riding.
Veterinary Surgeon
Lucy Cheetham, BVetMed MRCVS
Originally from the Hampshire area, Lucy grew up around horses and studied at the Royal Veterinary College in London. After moving to Australia to work in an equine hospital, she returned to the UK to work at a sports medicine practice and as a duty vet at various events and horse trials. Lucy joined Equivet in 2019 and has a particular interest in sports horse medicine and poor performance investigation. She is a licensed FEI permitted treating vet, and is currently working towards a certificate in advanced veterinary practice.

Alexia Austen Wishart, BSc BVSc MANZCVS (Equine Medicine) MRCVS
After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2012, Alexia worked in various mixed and equine practices across Australia, working both in hospitals and as an ambulatory vet. She was later admitted as a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists’ Chapter of Equine Medicine, becoming an entrance examiner for them in 2022. Lexi has considerable experience and a strong interest in medicine, foals and reproductive work. In her free time Lexi likes walking and exploring new places with her partner and their dog Georgia
Veterinary Surgeon
Kerry Ashdown, BVMSci MRCVS
Local to the area, Kerry graduated from the University of Surrey in 2021 before moving to Devon to work as an ambulatory vet. Kerry has a keen interest in diagnostic imaging and poor performance investigations, internal medicine and wound management. Kerry moved back to Hampshire and joined our team in 2023. In her spare time Kerry enjoys helping on her husband’s farm, working their border collies and riding her horses.

Ellen Heddle, BA VetMB CertAVP (EL) MRCVS
After graduating from Cambridge University in 2015, Ellen completed an internship at The Liphook Equine Hospital, after which she worked at a busy sports horse practice in West Sussex and as a lead lameness clinician and anaesthetist at an equine practice in Devon. Ellen joined Equivet in 2024 and has a particular interest in lameness, poor performance, diagnostic imaging and sports horse medicine, having gained a certificate in advanced veterinary practice in equine lameness diagnosis and therapeutics. In her free time, Ellen enjoys exploring the countryside with her horse and dog Otis.

Vicky Mitchell
After completing an equine management course and her BHS exams, Vicky spent time working at a riding school and in the accounts department of a large specialist equine hospital. She joined our practice team in 2015, and enjoys competing her ponies in showing classes in her free time.

Katherine Anderson
Katy has ridden since she was a child, and worked at her local riding school before studying equine studies at Sparsholt College and training as an equine body worker. She held various administrative roles before progressing to practice management positions at Sound Equine, and joined us in 2023. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, going to the cinema, exploring the South Downs and taking care of her horses.

Philippa Lester
Philippa joined us in 2017 having run a successful livery yard and riding school. She is a fully qualified riding instructor and splits her time between the office and her family's livery and stud yard. Having competed in many disciplines over the years, she now concentrates on dressage and breeding beautiful foals. Philippa is usually accompanied everywhere by her shadow, Max, a border collie.

Samantha Andrews
After graduating from University Centre Sparsholt, Sam worked at an RSPCA equine rehoming centre and joined Sound Equine in 2021. Sam joined the Equivet team in 2023 and she is due to finish her
student veterinary nurse training at the end of 2024. Sam’s clinical interests include weight clinics, equine behaviour and diagnostic imaging. Sam spends her spare time with her rescue mare Mavis and her little dog Mia

Laura Morgan
Originally from Switzerland, Laura has been passionate about showjumping from a young age. Since moving to the UK, she has completed a degree in equine business, as well as her BHS stages. She also ran her own livery yard and worked as an instructor at an agricultural college. She joined our team in 2020, and likes riding, walking her dogs and taking part in classic car rallies – a family passion!

Megan Tremlett
Megan joined the Equivet team in 2022, and quickly settled into the swing of practice life. She has a huge amount of equestrian experience, having worked on many livery yards and for competition riders in the past. When she’s not working, she likes looking after her own horses and her dog, Lucky.

Lauren Medcalf
Fancying a career change, Lauren joined the Equivet practice team in 2023, but was well known to the Equivet team before that. She can usually be found in our pharmacy, having previously spent 15 years working on busy competition yards. In her own time, she enjoys working at a local pub, eventing and looking after her own horses and dogs.
Receptionist
Sherri Straker
Born and raised in California, Sherri grew up in a horse loving (and owning) family, near the beach. She has worked with horses in America, as well as at a marine rescue and rehabilitation centre, where she put her biology degree to good use. She joined our team in 2016, and has a passion for water sports, travelling, flying aircrafts and aerial photography.
Receptionist
Amanda Ascott
Amanda joined us in 2023, having worked at an equine referral hospital for 13 years. Before that she worked for British Airways, meaning she has a wealth of experience in helping those who are having a stressful time. She has owned horses for 25 years and is a former dressage rider, who spends much of her spare time with her family, ponies and three dogs.
